Corporate events are a place where entertainment is often seen employed, much to the delight of the staff attending. From live music like bands and singers to stand-up comedy, there’s no small amount in the kinds of people you can hire for the job – but I’d argue that some events require that certain personal touch. That’s where being a close up magician comes in!
On the 8th of February this year, I was offered the chance to perform at a special occasion hosted by Capita Business Services for their staff and clients. It was a celebration of twelve years of contract held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Liverpool, and I was very happy to accept the opportunity. Of course, it wasn’t quite as formal as you might expect; I was hired to mingle and interact with the attendees during the drinks reception, which I felt was well suited to my relaxed and friendly style, and then to work the tables during a three course meal that looked quite superb!
It was great fun for me, and judging by the smiles I saw throughout the evening it was a success for all involved. I’m always grateful to have the chance to perform in an environment like this, as my illusions and sleight of hand tricks always shine when people get to really watch what I’m doing.
